The species name is derived from the Latin word 'clivis' for cliff, and 'cola' for dweller as this plant grows in limestone cliffs. It is native to Cambodia, Vietnam, Peninsular Malaysia. This species is listed on Appendix II of the CITES (Re: IUCN Red List of Threatened Species here).
