Buddleja asiatica - Asian Butterfly Bush


Scientific name: Buddleja asitica
Synonym: Buddleia asiatica
Common name: Asian Butterfly Bush, White Butterfly, Winter Lilac, Dogtail
Family: Scrophulariaceae (figwort family)
Origin: Indochina
Category: Shrub to small tree

How to grow
Light : Partial to full sun
Soil : Well-drained 
Water : Water regularly but do not overwater
Prune : Dead head spent flowers and prune to maintain shape
Propagate : cuttings

Features : Can grow to 7m tall and spread of 3m. Flowers are fragrant and they attract bees, butterflies and birds. Flower colour may be white,

  1. Oh i didn't know we have the butterfly bush in Asia, i haven't seen it either. Is it in the Utama rooftop too?

    1. This plant is quite common here in Malaysia. I too didn't know that it is a magnet for butterflies. Yes, this picture was taken at the rooftop Secret Garden of 1-Utama.
