How to grow
Light : Full to partial sun
Soil : Moist, well-draining
Water : Regular but do not over-water
Prune : To maintain a compact shape of the plant, also to promote new shoots and more flowering
Fertilize : Balance fertilizer once a fortnight
Propagate : Seeds or soft-wood cuttings

Features :
The plant is grown as an ornamental for its attractive burgundy red foliage. Leaves appear glossy and bright even under the sun. It can be grown on the ground or in a container. In Indonesia, the young leaves and shoots are eaten as ulam.

10. Hibiscus sabdariffa - Roselle

Scientific name: Hibiscus sabdariffa
Common names: Roselle
Family: Malvaceae
Origin: India to Malaysia

Category: Annual or perennial herb

The roselle plant is similar in appearance to Hibiscus acetosella (False Roselle, African Rosemallow, Cranberry Shield, Maple Sugar, Red Hibiscus), the ornamental hibiscus with burgundy red leaves and pinkish red flowers.

The flowers of the above variety open white in the morning and change to pink later in the day.


Note:
There is a variety that opens dark pink and stay pink and another variety that open white and stays white the whole day.
